Mañana sábado 10 de agosto se proyectará la película “La guerra contra el periodismo”, en el ciclo de Cine Assange Libre. La película cuenta los años de persecución contra el periodista
Este ciclo contará con la participación de Juan Passarelli, director de la película y de Daniela Tomé, quienes darán una charla informativa y ampliada sobre la libertad de información.
El programador informático Julian Assange acaparó los medios en 2010,cuando WikiLeaks publicó miles de documentos confidenciales filtrados de fuentes que incluyen el gobierno de EE.UU., grandes corporaciones y correos electrónicos personales.
uno de los asuntos más trascendentes publicados era un video tomado de un ataque con helicóptero estadounidense en Bagdad que mostraba, entre otros, al fotógrafo de noticias de Reuters Namir Noor-Eldeen y su asistente Saeed Chmagh asesinados por fuego estadounidense.
Cuando llegó un camión para recoger a los heridos, el vídeo mostró que también le disparaban. En la grabación del ataque se podía escuchar una voz que decía: “Enciéndanlos a todos”.
Stella Assange, esposa del fundador de WikiLeaks, que lo espera ya en Australia, señaló a la BBC este martes que el acuerdo implicaba que su marido se declarara culpable de un cargo. “El cargo se refiere a actos de espionaje y a la obtención y divulgación de información sobre la defensa nacional“, dijo la esposa.
En 2019 el jurado federal en Virginia acusó a Assange por más de doce cargos que dicen que obtuvo ilegalmente información clasificada sobre las guerras de Estados Unidos en Afganistán e Irak y la difundió en WikiLeaks.
